In Nigeria, we have a LOT of bamboo; large diameter, naturally occurring, extremely sturdy bamboo! It's used mainly for scaffolding, but not to any significant extent for housing. This is odd, considering that it competes favourably with steel and cement in terms of strength, durability and safety, while being much, much more affordable and accessible.
